"For over two hundred years, the genius of Ludwig van Beethoven has provided musicians with a standard of excellence for solo piano compositions. Our ultimate goal is to create a library of his greatest works. We have chosen a selected few that may be considered the greatest piano sonatas ever written. These âoriginalsâ are in pure form as weâve gone to great lengths and done much research to preserve the authenticity of each of them. These five complete original sonatas published by Santorella Publications are unedited with all three movements, identical to Beethovenâs manuscripts.
Sonata in C Major, Opus 53, or the Waldstein, was composed by 1804 and published in 1805 by the Bureau des Arts et d'Industrie. This work is dedicated to Count von Waldstein, one of Beethovenâs most important influences and early financial supporters. His gratitude to Count von Waldstein is quite apparent in this piece. Beethoven expanded the limits of the sonata form in this, the first truly grand sonata. Not one to cater to neither the amateur nor the professional, Beethoven created a superior, technically challenging sonata. We believe youâll enjoy this âComplete Originalâ Masterpiece. This Santorella Publication includes a performance CD recorded by the very talented Concert Pianist, Craig Stevens.
