About Us

Watermelon Music is an independently owned and operated music store located in the heart of downtown Davis, CA.  From our establishment in 1996 as Second Street Music (just around the corner from our current location), it has always been our goal to be the "go-to" place for musicians in and around our area.  

We are dedicated to serving local musicians and music educators, and offer musical instrument repairs, rentals and instruction and an extensive print music department as well as instruments and accessories.  We offer free or nearly-free workshops, concerts and clinics in our store nearly every month, and sponsor arts and music in the local public schools with our annual "Gumball Grant."

We are proud to be a true "full-line" and family friendly music store, and have complete departments for Fretted instruments and accessories, Brass & Woodwind instruments and accessories, Orchestra instruments and accessories, Drum & Percussion instruments and accessories and Printed Music.  Each department features knowledgeable employees, here to talk to you about your musical needs.  Providing you personalized service along with competitive pricing is our goal at Watermelon Music.We at Watermelon Music know what it can be like shopping at some of the "Big Stores". They sometimes offer little service and a lot of attitude. Our staff does not work on commission and we are here to talk to you about your music needs.
